The Phnom Penh Capital Administration stated yesterday that the ambitious Russey Keo cable bridge across the Tonle Sap River has completed 89% of its construction and is scheduled to be completed in April 2023.Director of the Department of Public Works and Transport of Phnom Penh, Mr. Sam Piseth, said on the afternoon of December 5, 2022 that as of December 5, the construction of the Russey Keo cable bridge across the Tonle Sap has achieved 89% of the project.
According to the plan, the project will be completed in April 2023.The new cable-stayed concrete bridge crosses the Tonle Sap River from the satellite town of Chroy Changva and National Road 6 to National Road 5.
The new bridge will facilitate the transportation of goods and travel from the provinces to Phnom Penh and from Phnom Penh to the provinces where traffic is growing regularly.
The Russey Keo cable-stayed bridge project has a modern style with 4 large pillars, up to 40 meters high for hanging cables.
The concrete bridge is built alongside the Bele Bridge, 922 meters long and 20.5 meters wide.
The sidewalk of the pedestrian bridge is 1.25 meters wide on each side.The height of the bridge piers for hanging cables compared to the bridge floor is 34 meters.
The lane is 3.75 meters wide.
The maximum navigation height under the bridge in the rainy season is 10.5 meters.
