The construction of National Road 23, a vital infrastructure link spanning nearly 20 kilometers in Kandal province, has reached 100% completion. According to the Kandal Provincial Administration’s official announcement on April 20, 2026, the road is now fully prepared for public use, marking a significant milestone in the region’s transport network development.
Measuring 19.8 kilometers in length and 11 meters in width, the newly finished road stretches from the eastern foot of the Koh Thom Bridge in Chroy Takeo commune, Koh Thom district, to the intersection with National Road 14 in Peam Rang commune, Leuk Daek district. This strategic alignment is designed to facilitate smoother travel and more efficient logistics between these two key districts.
The provincial authorities confirmed that an official inauguration ceremony is scheduled for April 27, 2026. The event will be held under the high presidency of His Excellency Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, reflecting the project’s importance to the national development agenda.
This infrastructure upgrade is expected to provide immediate relief for local commuters and businesses by reducing travel times and lowering transportation costs. By connecting key arterial routes and improving access to rural communes, National Road 23 stands as a testament to the government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing Cambodia’s physical infrastructure and fostering sustainable local development throughout the province.
