The Ministry of Public Works on Saturday announced that the the Transport Ministers of 63 member countries of the International Transport Forum (ITF) voted Cambodia as the 64th member during its annual summit in Leipzig, Germany.
Addressing the meeting in Germany on May 19, the Secretary of State of Ministry of Public Work Leng Thun Yuthea said that Cambodia’s inclusion is a reflection of its efforts for the development of transport and logistics in Cambodia.
He added that joining the ITF provides an opportunity for Cambodia to share its expertise in the field for the development of an efficient and sustainable Cambodian transportation system.
He added that Cambodia will receive support from member countries and the secretariat of the Forum in both the technical and policy framework for the development of the transport and logistics sector in Cambodia.
Young Tae Kim, Secretary-General of the Forum, said that the ITF is ready to assist Cambodia in formulating its logistics policies to achieve its objectives as set out in the master plan on connectivity and multipurpose transportation. He welcomed other countries in the Southeast Asia to join the ITF.
