A draft project for the planned 420km Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet Expressway will be submitted in June 2024, say officials.On January 25-26, 2024, HE Leng Thun Yuthea, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and Project Director, led a mission to inspect and explore some locations of the Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet Expressway.
The mission was organized to inspect a number of locations to gather information and provide additional recommendations to the company for review and revision, especially the first phase of the Phnom Penh-Siem Reap road project, after the Ministry received a report on the technical feasibility study of the project engineering plan from the company.Delegates instructed the company to review the Phnom Penh entrance from National Road 6A to determine the location with less impact and no traffic congestion.
Delegates also inspected the construction site of the traffic diversion point.
Speaking on the official Facebook page of Mr. Phorn Rim, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, he said that the project to study the expressway connecting Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet would be 420km long
The spokesman said that the starting point would be north of the 3rd ring road of Phnom Penh and the end point in Poipet (Cambodia-Thailand border) with the following lengths in each province: through Phnom Penh, 3 km, Kandal province 18 km, Kampong Cham 43 km, Kampong Thom 131 km, Siem Reap 130 km and Banteay Meanchey 95 km.
In the second phase of the Siem Reap-Poipet road, the Ministry will organize a meeting with the relevant authorities, especially the Apsara Authority, to review and comment on the road between the cities.
The delegation requested the Capital and Provincial Departments of Public Works and Transport to continue to provide more specific information to the company to complete the study.
The company plans to complete the draft project to study the feasibility of civil engineering design in February 2024 and then to complete the feasibility study project (FS) to be submitted to the Royal Government in early June 2024.
