The Department of Public Works and Transport of Phnom Penh has cooperated with district authorities to rehabilitate many canals in the capital to relieve the flooding in the coming rainy season.The Director of the Drainage and Pumping Unit of the Department of Public Works and Transport of Phnom Penh, Men Sokken, said on January 26, that the canals that are being rehabilitated are: Toul Poung Canal, Toul Pong II Canal, Stung Meanchey and Boeung Tumpun Canal.
The rehabilitation of the canals includes the clearing of garbage and plants that are blocking the flow of the water. The authorities have also added new instalments to facilitate the operations of the canal.Authorities continue to facilitate the development of the capital’s drainage and sewer system to combat the floods that happen during the rainy season.
