Ministry of Public Works and Transport has affirmed that the construction of the country’s first-ever expressway from Phnom Penh capital to Sihanoukville of Preah Sihanouk province is 31.19 percent complete.
The update was shared by Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister, Minister of Public Works and Transport at the ministry’s annual meeting here this morning.
The $2 billion Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville expressway project has been developed by the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC).
Scheduled to open by March 2023, the expressway is divided into four lanes with a total length of 190 kilometres across five cities and provinces.
Once completed, the expressway will alleviate traffic from National Road No. 4, the busiest thoroughfare in the country, which connects the capital to Sihanoukville’s deep-sea port, the main gateway for exports and imports.
